How It All Began

In the 1990s, KDAR Company Owner Randy Nieders worked in sales and procurement for a welding products supplier. During his years with the company, he started to realize certain torch products were missing key features to make them as useful and efficient as possible. As a result, he took the torches to his garage, where he enhanced them and implemented changes to improve the products. 

On business procurement trips to China, Randy used his vacation time to research sourcing his enhanced products in the country. As he started to do more and more sourcing for his products and independently for other people, his entrepreneurial spirit took off. He started to sell his products and turned his side-gig into his full-time job, incorporating KDAR in 1999. 

Big Max Torch was Randy’s product that facilitated the launch of the company. He added a molded handle that he couldn’t seem to find anywhere in the market. Without the handle, the 7 lb. torch was uncomfortable to hold and awkward to use. Since adding the handle, Randy has implemented several new features to the Big Max Torch, but this was the original product that made a name for KDAR Company. 

By 2006, Randy hired a second employee. And in 2008, he hired his son, Dax Nieders, who became KDAR Company’s Operations Manager. Today, KDAR Company is a wholesale supplier to independent retailers across the United States, the Caribbean, Canada, and South America. Top brands include Hot Max welding supplies, Pro Tie USA cable ties and hose clamps, and US Cable Ties.
